LATEST NEWS

BACKGROUND

With the demise of California Redevelopment Agencies, Concord's much-loved concert series has lost its funding.

City officials recognize the value of the series and want it to continue. However, new funding sources must be found in the midst of dwindling resources and competing interests.

SHORT TERM STRATEGY

  • A webpage is being developed to keep the public informed and to coordinate efforts
  • One or more benefit concerts are under consideration for March and/or April to help raise funds for the 2012 season
  • A campaign to find business sponsors to underwrite portions of the 2012 season is being put in place

LONGER TERM STRATEGY

  • The securing of a "title sponsor"
  • The creation of special districts or a "Concord Arts Foundation" which might eventually serve to expand the scope of cultural arts events, as well as protect what already exists.

The S.O.S. campaign is coordinated by
Jim and Kathy Ocean of OceanWorks Productions. For more info, call 707-869-9403 or email: kathy@communityconcerts.com www.CommunityConcerts.com
